Our 5 Favorite “Something Olds”

Something new, something borrowed, something blue, and…something old. The old tradition most brides try to accomplish, but that “something old” part can be tricky. Not to fear! Here are some of our favorites that are sure to please even the pickiest of brides!

1. The Getaway Car

Do you still have your first car? Even if it’s a bit…dusty…it doesn’t have to drive far! Just long enough to get you away from the guests, then you can trade cars if you have a long journey ahead. If someone in the family is good with cars, you can even find a vintage car and fix it up! ~Bonding time bonus points~

2. The Dress

This can be tricky if you and your mom have completely different tastes, but there are different ways you can go about this where both of you are happy. One of which is you can wear the dress for the reception…okay, maybe not the WHOLE reception… but you can tell the DJto make an announcement saying the dress you are currently wearing is your Mother’s (or whichever matriarch’s dress you’re wearing) and have your first dance in it…and Voila! You can still have a dress you’ve picked out, and make a special moment with an old dress without having to be committed to it the whole day!

3. A Chic Accessory

This can be your Mother’s favorite earrings, to a clutch made from an old wedding gown. This is a very broad category, but that leaves you with some creativity room! Maybe your Grandmother has a special hair pin she used to wear? The possibilities are (almost) endless!

4. An Old Picture

If you have a loved one that has passed away, you can pin their picture into your dress, or even hang a key chain sized picture frame from your bouquet. Your loved one will be honored, and also be a part of a wedding tradition!

5. The Veil

You can never go wrong with a veil. Most of them look about the same, and you can always add jewels to them to make them look jaw dropping! If it’s a bit on the yellow side, however, you can pin a piece of it into your dress, or even wrap it around your bouquet!

I hope this has helped you with finding the perfect “something old” for your wedding! If you’re already married, let us know what you used at your wedding!
